PURVA PHALGUNI

Power of Procreation

SUPER MOON in PURVA PHALGUNI NAKSHATRA MARCH 9th, 1:48pm

Such an auspicious Full Moon is upon us.  A Super Moon is when the Full Moon is closer to the Earth than the average Full Moon and appears very large. This also means that it will influence the oceans and our minds and emotions (moon) much more than usual.  On the evening of March 8th & 9th we will witness this Full Moon in the constellation of Leo (sidereal system), a very auspicious area of the sky bestowing good fortune and creativity.  Purva Pahlguni’s Shakti (power) gives the power of procreation. (Prajanana shakti).  Bhaga, the Hindu God of bliss, fortune and prosperity is the ruling deity of this Nakshatra.  A hammock is also the symbol reminding us to rest.  We have a combination of Sun and Venus ruling here which brings a zest for life and pleasure, very fitting as we move into Spring.  The Moon is also receiving Jupiter’s gaze which will bless us with even more expansion in the realms of creativity, creation, prosperity and hope.

Mercury stations direct, after 1 month retrograde, on Monday evening at 9:51pm EST.  This will bring some relief and we will recognize the momentum being picked up on projects that have been stalled or communications that haven’t been able to move forward or misunderstood. This direct stationing occurs in Dhanishtha Nakshatra, called the “star of symphony”.  The Vasus, solar gods of energy and light, are the deities associated with this Nakshatra and their power is to give abundance.  It is ruled by Mars and located in the sign of Aquarius which is ruled by Saturn so it is important to note that it is under the influence of two malefic planets.  Perhaps just being careful with your speech and written word.  Nonetheless this forward motion will be welcomed.

I think the most influential aspect of this full moon lies in the nature and placement of the Nodes of the Moon (Rahu and Ketu).  They are experiencing a 1/7 axis meaning Rahu is situated in the first house and Ketu in the 7th house representing the Self and Others and how we relate.  More important are the nakshatras that they are residing in.  Rahu in Ardra (Gemini) and Ketu in Mula (Sagittarius), thought they are considered strong in their placement here Vedic astrology does not favor Rahu and Ketu in their own Nakshtras as they can create psychological barriers to future growth.  Rahu in Ardra (symbolizing tears of sorrow) is ruled by Rahu and Ketu in Mula (the root star associated with destruction) is ruled by Ketu so we have some deeply rooted things coming to the surface invoking sorrow.  The last time we experienced this placement of Ketu in Mula was 9/11 and since it’s entrance into Mula in January we have seen the hysteria and fear of the Coronavirus continue to escalate and the economy continue to decline.

Ketu is conjunct Jupiter and Mars and Rahu is receiving their aspects so their role is pretty significant in this axis.  I’d like to think that there is light at the end of the tunnel with the presence of Jupiter but I don’t think it will be immediate.  Perhaps some information will be exposed first allowing us to get to the root of things pertaining to the true origins of the virus, we shall see.  The most important thing to take away form all of this is that we must respond to life from a place of trust and love and not fall into the trap of fear which the media uses to gain control and our attention.

The Spring Equinox is also upon us on March 19th, the earliest in 124yrs, and will continue to get earlier and earlier every 4yrs.  The Spring Equinox is a physical reminder for us to seek balance within.  It is a time to acknowledge the darkness and the light, the fear and the love, the good and the bad etc.  A time to decide where we want to live.  We also get this opportunity , on a smaller scale, twice each month as the moon waxes and wanes to it’s half moon phase.

In ancient Irish times this time of year was marked by the Alder Tree, symbolizing the energy of the trailblazer with fiery passion.  It reminds us of how important it is to go deep below the physical level. These experiences maybe difficult but ultimately you will inherit a deeper understanding of yourself and others.

Some remedial measures for these times:

-Tend a fire on Sunday evening and conjure all that you are desiring to create and giving to the fire all those blocks that have been obstructing your path.

-Spend time in Nature sitting under trees and listening.

-Create sacred space daily to tune into your heart center with ritual to provide a grounded foundation

-Limit your exposure to the media and social media as it just generates fear.

-Do self-massage in the evenings with herbal oil.

-Connect with those that offer the energy of grounding and stability

-Make friends with an adaptogenic plant friend and start consuming her medicine to balance the adrenals and give support to the nervous system.  You can start out with something mild like a Tulsi tincture or kick it up a notch with Ashwaganda, although if you have a Pitta (fiery) constitution I wouldn’t recommend this last one.  Milky Oats is another great herb for times like these.  I have Milky Oats available in the shop and the other two available upon request.  www.mothercraftherbal.com

As always I am wishing you ease and trust as you navigate these fearful times and am available for astrology readings and herbal consultations to help you find your way with your health and purpose.

Love

Danielle
