Finally something moving forward this summer! Most folks think retrograde means “ moving backwards” but it doesn’t. It means that the planet has stopped making forward motion and stands still. Venus only retrogrades every 18 months so this is definitely an important transit and sadly one that is getting overshadowed in the summer transits because of Saturn, Jupiter and the Eclipses.
Taurus is ruled by Venus so she is very much at home here. And now with her direct motion we will start to experience her luminescence as we did in late April and early May. Which house does Taurus rule in your chart? This is where you will feel the incredible cosmic love wave of Venus. You will be seen differently by others, the way you love may change or you may experience an increase in creativity or money. This is a very positive transit and I somehow think this is the only period of the year that we will experience expansion and freedom in the way we are used too. A kind of respite before the coming of the school year and people returning from their summer. Venus (Shukra in Sanskrit) means “brilliant light.” She is the Goddess of Love and Beauty and represents our capacity to project love and beauty. She is the significator of art, poetry, painting, music and dance. On the lower level Venus shows how we seek pleasure, comfort, luxury and the pleasure of the senses. On the higher level, she is beautiful and pure and our devotion to truth. Her strength depends on her placement in your chart.
As someone with Venus in Taurus in my 5th house of children I feel as though I really got to experience this transit in a tangible way. I remember thinking in December when I was planning my yearly forecast workshop, I wonder what will be going on with my kids in may/June during the Venus Retro and prior and after. During the retro we had to make a decision about school for next year with all of the guidelines etc. Retrogrades don’t necessarily mean that the energy dissipates but moreso it brings more attention to the qualities of that house and planet. Now with the forward motion I expect more focus on the creative side with the kids, more enjoying and playing as opposed to focusing on decision making.
Rohini is located in the constellation of Taurus and bestows tremendous creativity and gifts in the fine arts. It is located near the rose star of Aldebaran, often confused with Mars. We have a Moon-Venus energy here as the Moon rules Rohini. The shakti of this Nakshatra is growth so the word Fertility describes this combination of creativity and growth. But first we need to decide what we really want??? Rohini embodies the needed power to facilitate the growth and development of our creative potential once we know what it is we want to create!
Venus’s color is white or pale pink and the day for Venus is Friday.
