IN PUSHYA NAKSHATRA JULY 20TH, 2020 @1:33pm EST
This new moon is a bright light amidst the darkness. Pushya is a goddess-like Nakshatra and the most auspicious for spiritual maturity. It’s Shakti (power) is the ability to create spiritual energy. This feels like a boon of goodness in our current climate. All spiritual practices are emphasized here, intentions, sankalpas, spells etc. I trust that the commitments made and the intentions set under this new moon will reap many fruits. The influence of Saturn ruling this Nakshatra enables the creativity of the Moon to reach new levels and not just the daydreams and visions that are typical of Cancer. There is also a Jupiter influence here as Brihaspati is the deity associated with this star. Interestingly, the Jupiter and Saturn retrogrades are what is affecting many of the contradictory things we are watching play out in the world. Jupiter expands where it sits in the chart and Saturn contracts and brings delay.
This Nakshatra is entirely within the sign of Cancer and consists of 3 faint stars pictured in the sky as two donkey’s feeding in the manger in which Jesus laid. Pushya means “to nourish.” Cancer is the Mother, ruled by the Moon, and Pushya provides the milk, nurturing her children. If the last four months have felt exhausting from all of the giving (us moms feel this exponentially) now there is a cosmic opportunity to receive some cosmic nectar.
There are three archetypal symbols associated with this star, they include a flower, a circle and an arrow. According to Bepin Behari “ though these symbols emphasize different aspects of the Nakshatra, they all highlight certain aspects of it’s mysterious qualities. They refer to vibrant tranquility, absence of undue agitation, faith in oneself and fullness of life.” If we are aligning with this energy we can experience a purification of the psyche and an intuitive perception of the Divine Plan under this particular Nakshatra. Those on the spiritual path will experience tranquility while others may experience a mental agitation during this Dark Moon.
I decided to unveil the new Mothercraft logo under this auspicious new moon for a few reasons but mainly one, the Cancer New Moon, cardinal Water sign is home to this Chalice. The Chalice has been revealing itself to me over the last 2yrs in so many ways and I have felt the pull towards the West, the Water element and working more with the intuitive and emotional body in my Herbal Consultations. Tree Essences have become a large part of my work and grant incredible insight into our physical beings and our connection to the ancestors. So it made sense to reveal it under this Cancer New Moon (vedic system).
The chalice of course took center stage in this design (inspired by the Cauldron of Ceridwen)and represents to me the cup of inspiration that is always there to drink from and represents the water element(emotional intuitive body), the Awen symbol to call on that inspiration and represents the air element (the mental body), vervain and mugwort for protection, to remind me who I am and represents the earth element(the physical body) and the triple goddess and the newgrange spiral as a reminder of the cycles and threefold nature of everything. And then I am the fire element (the spiritual body) , lol, bringing forth a full expression of the elements. @malialuna did an incredible job of taking my vision and creating a beautiful work of art, thank you sister. It is not just your designs but the reverence to spirit that is so obvious in them that sets you apart from all the rest.
This quarantine has brought about many changes, as we are changing collectively I am also changing personally, IN SOOOOO MANY WAYS. My website is undergoing change, a new face is being brought forward with this new logo and my operations within Mothercraft have been limited as I have been fully caring for my children during this time. I have no idea what the Fall will bring but I am excited to embark on this new chapter of Mothercraft. Will you drink from the Chalice of inspiration?
