MOONTIME ANOINTING OIL

My daughter Nokomis Moon was cast as Freyja the Norse goddess of beauty, love and fertility in her school play this year.She felt really called to play her, so much excitement at the chance of embodying this archetype!Freyja is known for wearing the special Brisingamen necklace (torc) and practicing shamanistic magic which she taught to Odin (Noko wore my Celtic torc).She wears a falcon feathered cloak for flying and rides a chariot drawn by cats.She is considered a gracious lady but also fierce and enigmatic.She is the epitome of a Maiden and that was all I could think about as I watched my daughter strive to anchor her energy in the opening scene where she is brushing her hair in front of a mirror!Truth be told I didn’t know much about Freyja other than her connection to Venus and Friday’s until this year.I’ve not read much Norse Mythology.When we experience our first moon blood it’s so important we are given a detailed picture of the Maiden and an experience of what crossing this threshold means. Myth and archetypes are the perfect channels to take us there.
